“Mixtura” by Orlando Jacinto García, has been nominated for a Latin Grammy Award <http://www.grammy.com/news/12th-annual-latin-grammy-nominations-announced> . The work was recorded and performed by cellist, Iracema De Andrade; Track from: Electro-Acústico (Obras Para Cello Y Sonidos Electroacústicos) In this category, Garcia’s competition includes composers Lalo Schifrin and Paquito D’Rivera. Garcia was also nominated in 2010 in the same category of Best Classical Contemporary Composition for Silencios Imaginados, recorded by NODUS Ensemble. The category is a Composer's Award, for a newly recorded contemporary classical composition composed within the last 25 years, and released for the first time during the eligibility year.
The 12th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, set for Nov. 10 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, will be broadcast live on the Univision Network from 8–11 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). "For more than 10 years now, the Latin GRAMMY nominations continue to bring together the worldwide Latin music community by recognizing excellence and impact in recorded Latin music," said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy.
