Darwin's Dream II, with music by Elliott Schwartz and Video by Dorothy Schwartz, in discussion at SGI conference

video still 1Darwins Dream II video still 1Deborah Cornell of Boston University will be presenting excerpts from Elliott Schwartz's Darwin's Dream II for video and chamber ensemble, at the Southern
Graphics
International Printmaking Conference in San Francisco on March 29. The panel "Synapse" will be part of the conference-- Bridges -- and will investigate the intersections between traditional and emerging technologies in graphics and printmaking.

The musical work, first performed in 2010, is designed for performance as a multi-media
“event,” employing visual projections of art work by Dorothy Schwartz and
recorded sounds (these two elements linked together and synchronized via
iMovie),  plus live performance by an
improvisation chamber ensemble. During the course of the piece, players recite spoken phrases from the writings of Charles Darwin.
