Choral Arts Ensemble to perform THE MOST TRIUMPHANT BIRD by Jacob Avshalomov, February 1st.

The Choral Arts Ensemble,  Rick Kvam, founder, will present "Midwinter Serenade" concert on February 1, 2014, at Lourdes Chapel, Assisi
Heights, in Rochester, MN, at 7:30pm.  The concert will include selections from Jacob Avshalomov's Most Triumphant Bird, based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson, including "The Most Triumphant Bird I Ever Met" for mixed chorus, viola, and piano. Born on 28 March 1919 in Tsingtao, China, and died in April, 2013 in Portland, Oregon, Jacob Avshalomov was the son
of composer Aaron Avshalomov and father of composer David Avhshalomov
and violist Daniel Avshalomov. Performing in the richly resonant Lourdes Chapel at Assisi Heights, The Choral Arts Ensemble and Minnesota Singers will each present solo sets, then
combine to sing Ralph Vaughan Williams' lush Serenade to Music.
