-Intended for younger band ensemble, written for the eighth grade band of the composer's son. The instrumentation is not standard for concert band (for example, there are only two clarinet parts rather than the usual three); it was tailored to fit the instrumentation of the band that commissioned it.  During the time period it was first performed, many of the students were absorbed in a fantastic and complex game which was generically known as “Dungeons and Dragons”. It was also during the period of Star Wars film culture dramatizing the struggle between “good” and “evil” on a galactic scale. Within this environment, the programmatic nature of this piece found its inspiration.
